About Us

We challenge colonial traditions that define contemporary culture and global knowledge production through art, writings and events.

At Decolonial Thoughts, we believe that meaningful change begins with engaging and transforming the mind. We are an intellectual and cultural hub committed to amplifying marginalised perspectives, cultures and communities.

We produce and host creative content, including short films, interviews, and articles, that question traditional colonial perspectives on humanity, space, time, and labour. Our goal is to amplify such voices and promote decolonial conversations challenging long-standing patterns of power in an accessible way.

One may wonder, why decolonial? Well, for us, without a fuller understanding of how current systems work and their history, our potential to reimagine a better world is limited.

Many of the systems we navigate today—economics, politics, education, and culture—are deeply rooted in colonial structures that perpetuate inequality under the guise of progress. At Decolonial Thoughts, we take a critical approach to unpacking and challenging these systems, exposing how colonial logic continues to shape life, labour, and knowledge globally, and advocating for pathways to systemic change.

We are providing a space for more dynamic perspectives through stories, opinions and political coverage. Through this, we hope to inspire people to imagine better and more sustainable worlds.

Heyyy — Ayotunde here. I’m Decolonial Thoughts’ Admin and Communications Assistant, so I’m probably the one you’ll chat with when you reach out! By day, I work in marketing, blending creativity and strategy to help brands shine. When I’m not cosplaying as an adult, you’ll find me reading, hanging out with friends, or (let’s be honest) minding other people’s business.
